Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Lead Quality Control Engineer to manage QC on large commercial projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and codes. This role may mentor junior QC staff and coordinate QC activities across field and office teams.

The successful candidate will have a civil/structural engineering degree, 3–5 years of relevant experience, and strong communication skills. The position emphasizes safety, compliance, and continuous improvement within a dynamic, employee‑owned

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture or construction management.
• 3-5 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and update the project quality process log (QPL) and provide comments to the QC manager.
• Direct removal and replacement of non‑conforming work.
• Be fully aware of the contract, plans, specifications and applicable codes.
• Submit and review RFIs to ensure changes are implemented in the field.
• Coordinate daily trade partner test and inspection schedule.
• Participate in the work completion tagging and punch list processes.
• Audit trade partner QC procedures and participate in CIP programs.
• Participate in safety and housekeeping inspections through the SAFE program.
