Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Quality Control Engineer to perform project‑level QC tasks, implement policies, and support safety‑driven operations on large commercial projects. The role involves interfacing with the owner’s quality assurance team, reviewing specifications and codes, and managing inspections and punch lists.

Proficiency in Excel, Prolog, Primavera and AutoCAD is preferred, with strong communication skills and the ability to multitask.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
• A valid Driver’s License.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Computer software - Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow‑up skills both internally and externally.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local reporting requirements and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with the owner’s quality assurance team on all quality‑related issues.
• Be technically experienced and capable of comprehending the specifications, standards and code requirements for all disciplines.
• Participate in submittal reviews, weekly QC meetings and preparatory meetings.
• Perform all initial and follow‑up inspections and manage the punch list process.
• Inspections to verify trade partner work complies with project specs and codes.
• Maintain records that identify areas inspected, tests performed and any significant findings.
• Initiate deficiency reports and track resolution with stakeholders.
• Review trade partner QC logs and ensure corrective actions are implemented when required.
• Coordinate and schedule third‑party testing and source inspections.
• Interface with third party testing agencies, as necessary.
