Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Lead Quality Control Engineer (LQCE) for an on-site role on a major commercial project. The position requires a 4-year degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management and 3–5 years of large‑scale construction experience.

You will manage QC processes, issue RFIs, coordinate daily tests, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with plans, specs, and codes.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture or construction management.
• 3–5 years of experience on large commercial construction projects.
• Strong communication and cross-disciplinary coordination.
• Proficiency with Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera, and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Review and update the project quality process log (QPL).
• Direct removal/replacement of non-conforming work per contract.
• Ensure awareness of the contract, plans, specs and applicable codes.
• Submit and review RFIs for field changes.
• Coordinate daily test and inspection schedule with trade partners.
• Participate in the work completion tagging, punch list, and pre-final punch processes.
• Audit trade partner QC procedures and participate in the quality recognition program.
• Support CIP and lessons learned programs.
• Perform safety and housekeeping inspections under the SAFE program.
