Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Field Claims Specialist III, Property to join our Northern VA territory with a hybrid work model. You will manage complex property claims, perform investigations, evaluate liability, and negotiate settlements, while maintaining high service standards.

As an experienced professional, you will mentor others, use Xactimate to prepare estimates, and collaborate with SIU and Subrogation to identify fraud opportunities. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience handling property claims, insurance processing or field claims adjusting.
• Solid experience with Xactimate and writing own estimates.
• Construction background in residential, roofing, remodeling, water mitigation, etc.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• CAT duty is a requirement for this role.

Responsibilities

• Handle all assigned claims promptly with minimal oversight, including complex cases.
• Decide on settlements within delegated authority and follow policy guidelines.
• Assess coverages and apply standard methodologies to conclude cases.
• Open, close and adjust reserves; ensure reserve adequacy.
• Stay current on industry procedures, pricing and local regulations.
• Mentor less experienced colleagues and provide trainings when needed.
• Collaborate with SIU and Subrogation to identify fraud and subrogation opportunities.
• Engage in follow‑ups using claims systems and deliver outstanding service.
