Job summary

AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex programs in a matrix environment across EPC, IT and operational domains. You will guide planning, execution, monitoring, and closure with a focus on safety, cost control, and stakeholder communications.

The role requires PMP certification, a relevant degree, and extensive experience in utilities or related industries. On-site work with potential travel and strong leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 10 years of qualified experience or equivalent.
• PMP certification required unless waived by SVP/OPCO President.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Experience in project management, major construction, project controls and similar topics.
• Experience in utilities, nuclear, and/or IT systems is favorable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct and manage assigned project activities with proficiency in Waterfall or Agile.
• Ensure safety with a Zero Harm focus and accountable contractors.
• Develop and coordinate project plan, schedule, budget, tools, and staff.
• Communicate project status and lead meetings with detailed stakeholder presentations.
• Build working relationships with internal and external customers, partners, and vendors.
• Provide guidance and training to improve design, processes, schedules, and costs.
• Represent AEP with customers, vendors, and regulators as needed.
• Align projects with AEP PMO standards and governance.
