Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Project Manager Staff Sr. (Grade 11) to lead complex programs in a matrix environment. You will guide planning, execution, and control of EPC/CCGT projects, ensuring safety, schedule adherence, and budget discipline.

The role requires advanced PM expertise, PMP certification, and the ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders, including internal teams, vendors, and regulators, to deliver value and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Degree/experience requirements per business unit: 10+ years for higher grades, 12 years for associate degree path, or 14 years with HS diploma.
• PM experience in major construction, project controls, cost estimating, and procurement.
• PMP certification required unless waived by senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and manage assigned project activities with expert level of proficiency in all aspects.
• Support and hold employees and contractors accountable for the AEP System Safety Process, ensuring a safe working environment focused on Zero Harm.
• Manage, develop, review and coordinate the project plan, schedule, budget, tools, and staff.
• Effectively communicate project/outage details and status updates; lead planning meetings and stakeholder presentations.
• Develop and actively manage working relationships with project teams, plant staff, customers or partners, contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Provide guidance and training to others to improve design, systems, processes, schedules, and costs.
