Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a senior Project Manager Staff Sr./Staff to lead complex programs across multiple domains. You will direct planning, execution, and governance, ensuring safety, cost control, and stakeholder alignment.

The role emphasizes strong leadership, communication, and adherence to PM standards across diverse teams and sites. Base salaries range from $137K to $208K, with total rewards including incentive programs, 401(k), pension, health benefits, and education support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 10+ years experience; or Associate’s with 12+ years; or HS diploma with 14+ years (see posting)
• 3 years as PROJECT MANAGER PRINCIPAL (Grade 9) preferred
• PMP certification required unless waived by SVP or OPCO President
• Valid state driver’s license
• Experience in project management, major construction, project controls, estimating, engineering, and IT systems is favorable
• Ability to lead, plan, and communicate with diverse stakeholders and manage scope, cost and risk

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and manage project activities using Waterfall or Agile
• Ensure safety and Zero Harm in the work environment
• Manage project plan, schedule, budget, tools, and staffing
• Communicate detailed project updates and present to stakeholders
• Develop relationships with internal/external customers, vendors, and partners
• Provide guidance, training, and accountability to team members
• Represent AEP with customers, vendors, regulators on assigned projects
• Align projects with AEP PM standards and organizational processes
