Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking an experienced Project Manager Staff to lead highly complex programs across West Virginia, Virginia, and Tennessee. You will direct planning, scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder communications to ensure safe, economical, and timely project delivery within a matrix organization.

Responsibilities include managing plans and cost controls, guiding teams and contractors, and ensuring adherence to AEP safety processes and project management standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related field depending on business unit requirements with ten years qualified experience
• PMP certification required for this position unless waived by SVP or OPCO President
• Valid state driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and manage assigned project activities with expert level of proficiency in all aspects
• Lead planning meetings and project updates with detailed stakeholder presentations
• Develop and actively manage project plans, schedules, budgets, tools, and staff
• Communicate project/outage details and status updates clearly and concisely
• Build strong relationships with internal and external customers, vendors, and partners
• Provide training and guidance to improve design, systems, processes, and costs
• Represent AEP with industrial customers, vendors, and regulators as needed
• Align projects with AEP project management standards
• Travel typically 25% or less, up to 50% for short durations
