Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks an experienced Project Manager Staff Sr. to lead highly complex projects within a matrix organization across the APCO footprint (WV, VA, TN).

You will direct planning, execution, monitoring and staffing, applying Waterfall and Agile practices while upholding safety and cost controls. The role requires senior-level PM credentials, deep program management skills, and the ability to communicate with internal and external customers, regulators, and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with ten years qualified experience; or Associate’s degree with twelve years; or High School with fourteen years of qualified experience.
• PMP certification required unless waiver approved by SVP or OPCO President.
• Experience in utilities, commercial nuclear power, and/or IT systems is favorable.
• Three years as PROJECT MANAGER PRINCIPAL (Grade 9) is preferred or demonstrated competencies in a shorter timeline.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and manage assigned project activities with expert level of proficiency.
• Use Waterfall and Agile methodologies for project management.
• Ensure safety and Zero Harm culture; manage cost and schedule; communicate status to stakeholders.
• Develop and manage project plans, budgets, tools, and staffing; lead meetings and communications.
