Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Senior Product Counsel to provide practical legal guidance to engineering and product teams on data privacy, protection, AI, and technology transactions. You will partner with cross-functional teams across Databricks and external partners, handling DPAs, BAAs, and contract negotiations with customers.

The role reports to the Assistant General Counsel, Product, and requires deep understanding of cloud/software tech, strong judgment, and outstanding communication skills.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant legal experience at a top law firm and/or in-house, with 2+ years in product, privacy, or IP law
• Experience with AI, FedRAMP requirements, or payments is a plus
• Deep understanding of cloud and software technology
• State bar membership required
• Ability to prioritize and manage time across competing demands
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end product counseling from ideation to end of life.
• Draft and update form agreements for products and services; negotiate product and security-related changes.
• Advise on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, marketing, external partners).
• Develop processes to improve the product counseling function.
• Explain technical and security concepts in clear language for non-technical lawyers.
