Job summary

Databricks Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Counsel to guide the legal strategy for product teams, focusing on data privacy, data protection, and AI.

You will advise engineering and product management, draft and negotiate DPAs/BAAs, and lead cross-functional collaboration with marketing, security, and operations to mitigate risk while enabling innovation. Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant legal experience at a top law firm and/or in-house (a combination of both is a plus) with a minimum of 2 years focused experience in product, privacy, and/or IP law.
• Experience with AI, FedRAMP requirements, or payments a plus.
• Experience working for a company offering platform services to business customers is a plus.
• Deep understanding of cloud and software technology, and a strong desire to work on legal issues in these areas.
• Technical background -- either engineering or hard science, demonstrated ability to acquire deep product understanding, or strong technology affinity.
• State bar membership required.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time and client expectations in a fast-scaling environment.
• Comfortable working with distributed teams.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in raising issues and collaborating with others.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end product counseling from ideation to end of life.
• Draft and update form agreements regarding products and services, and negotiate product and security-related changes to customer contracts (including DPAs and BAAs).
• Advise on cybersecurity issues as a member of incident response teams.
• Work cross-functionally with commercialization, product marketing, marketing, and communications teams to bring offerings to market.
• Collaborate with other legal leaders across commercial, go-to-market, compliance, corporate, and public affairs on product issues.
• Assist product stakeholders in developing process improvements.
• Partner with teams across Databricks and external partners building, deploying, and operating technology for users.
