Job summary

Databricks seeks a Senior Counsel, Privacy to own and mature our privacy program, delivering practical legal guidance on global privacy and AI laws. You will build AI-enabled privacy solutions, lead risk assessments, and partner across product, security, and governance to scale compliant practices.

You will excel at forming strong cross-functional relationships, advising on data protection requirements, and navigating complex regulatory landscapes in a fast-paced tech environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant legal experience with privacy focus
• Deep knowledge of GDPR/UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, EU AI Act, and US privacy laws
• Experience building or leading a privacy program
• Familiarity with privacy tooling and data transfer mechanisms

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on global privacy and data protection laws and regulations
• Lead privacy program governance, DPIAs/PIAs, RoPA, and policy management
• Draft and negotiate data protection provisions in contracts (DPAs, SCCs)
• Develop privacy notices, training, and governance frameworks
• Collaborate across geographies and functions on privacy issues
• Balance business needs with risk and provide practical legal judgments
• Support other areas of the business as a trusted advisor
