Job summary

Cenovus Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead the US refinery Process Safety competency and support policy across the US, with collaboration to Canadian counterparts.

The role serves as the US Region SME in Process Safety, driving risk management, training, and compliance with PSM standards while advancing Cenovus Risk Methodology and safety engineering across operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 16+ years in a Process Safety role.
• 10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals asset.
• Experience leading multiple complex unit HAZOPs.
• Experience with RMP compliance.
• PHAST analyses experience.
• Familiarity with API, NFPA, CCPS codes and US regulations.
• Fire Hazard Analysis techniques and PSM in projects are assets.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety as a US refinery competency.
• Develop and mentor Process Safety Engineers in Cenovus Risk Methodology.
• Design and maintain risk-training for site personnel.
• Champion key risk standards (PHA, RMP).
• Coordinate third-party studies (Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis).
• Drive assurance audits in the PSM space.
