Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Specialty Engineer to mentor teams and perform critical analyses across multiple domains. You will lead safety programs and collaborate with design and test teams to ensure system objectives are met, while supporting bids and proposals.

Ideal candidates have leadership experience, domain expertise in safety or maintainability, and strong communication skills. Position may involve travel and requires U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline plus 8 years of experience; or master’s degree with 6 years of relevant engineering experience.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
• Experience collaborating with engineers from multiple disciplines (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Production).
• Subject matter expertise in one or more domains such as Systems Safety, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Product Cybersecurity, ILS, Product Support, Human Factors, and Unit Production Cost Modeling.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new toolsets.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Mentor team members to plan and execute specialty engineering tasks across domains.
• Perform detailed specialty analyses (FMECA, FTA, SHA) with design engineering.
• Lead Safety Programs from planning to safety acceptance with Safety Review Boards.
• Serve as lead Specialty Engineer in design reviews and investigations.
• Support bidding and proposals with Specialty Engineering Manager.
• Collaborate with Systems Design Engineering to define and verify requirements for specialty domains.
