Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Principal System Safety Engineer to join our Palmdale, CA team. The role focuses on applying MIL-STD-882 and software safety practices across complex hardware/software systems, with emphasis on hazard analyses and safety requirements.

The successful candidate will collaborate with design teams, review safety artifacts, and contribute to Airworthiness Certification efforts, while navigating non-standard hours and multiple shifts as needed.

Qualifikationen

• System Safety Engineer: Bachelor of science Degree in STEM and 2 years of experience, or a Master of science Degree in a STEM discipline.
• Principal System Safety Engineer: Bachelor of science Degree in STEM a discipline and 5 years of experience, or a Master of science Degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience.
• Must have an active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance.
• Must have experience with MIL-STD-882
• Must have experience with hazard analyses and safety artifacts
• Must have ability to communicate with leadership and customers and work independently
• Must be able to work non-standard hours and multiple shifts

Aufgaben

• Applies knowledge, methodologies, and principles of safety engineering as defined in MIL-STD-882 and Software Safety engineering (JSSSEH)
• Develops and evaluates product systems, associated support equipment, and facilities, and establishes safety requirements
• Develops requirements and designs, assess implementations for hazard and causal factors to satisfy critical system safety objectives
• Reviews architecture, requirements, and interface artifacts for safety on complex hardware/software systems
• Independently analyzes and recommends safety criteria in system design, equipment, and procedures
• Collaborates with design teams in MIL-STD-882E hazard analyses
• Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other documentation for system safety
• Reviews Test Plans and Procedures for safety requirements verification
• Perform software safety analysis (AGILE development)
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of leadership and customers
