Job summary

Apex Companies seeks a Senior Principal Engineer to base in Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA, leading multidisciplinary infrastructure projects and driving growth across Oregon and Washington. You will mentor teams, manage client relations, and guide design through construction while ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Demonstrated leadership in road, bridge, and multimodal projects, with PE licensure in OR/WA or ability to obtain quickly, is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 15+ years managing infrastructure projects for ODOT/local agencies in Oregon and Washington.
• PE license in OR/WA or ability to obtain within six months.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary infrastructure design from pursuit through construction.
• Strong knowledge of ODOT Design Manual, AASHTO, MUTCD, and state/local standards.
• Experience with project budgeting, scheduling, and client management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Proven business development and client relationship experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects with budgets over $3 million annually.
• Support business development across Oregon and Washington, targeting >$2 million yearly in pursuit activities.
• Serve as Project Manager/Principal-in-Charge for complex designs from planning through construction.
• Mentor junior engineers and project managers to build leadership capacity.
• Represent the firm at client meetings, industry events, and professional organizations.
