Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC is hiring a Senior Principal Engineer based in Portland, Oregon or Vancouver, WA to lead multidisciplinary infrastructure projects and expand the firm’s Oregon presence. The role emphasizes project leadership, delivery excellence, and collaboration with regional teams.

You will manage client relationships, guide business development across Oregon and Washington, and mentor engineers while delivering road, bridge, and multimodal projects on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 15+ years managing infrastructure projects for Oregon DOT/local agencies and similar in Washington.
• PE license in OR and WA or ability to obtain within six months.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design from pursuit through construction.
• Strong knowledge of ODOT DMS, AASHTO, MUTCD and local standards.
• PM, budgeting, scheduling and client management experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects exceeding $3 million annually.
• Lead business development across Oregon and Washington with a $2 million+ annual target.
• Oversee scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction.
• Provide technical leadership for roadway, highway, bridge, and multimodal projects.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across roadway, drainage, utilities, structures, and environment.
• Mentor junior engineers and project managers.
