Job summary

RTX seeks an experienced Electro‑Mechanical Engineer for the ALE AUR program in Tucson, AZ. You will lead design and analysis of high‑performance opto‑mechanical hardware, bridging engineering with program management to meet SOW, budgets, and schedules.

The role requires deep expertise in mechanical/electrical integration, rigorous testing, and effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams. Travel up to 25% and active DoD Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM and 10+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 7+ years experience.
• Hardware engineering design, development, and production support experience.
• Experience across multiple DoD programs or complex development efforts.
• Expertise in static, dynamic, and thermal mechanical analyses.
• Proven success delivering high‑performance hardware to stringent specs and standards.
• Hands‑on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and perform tolerance stack‑ups.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for opto‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical design.
• Oversee structural/thermal analysis, EM simulations, PI/SI calculations, and IR drop analyses.
• Serve as primary liaison between Program Office, Chief Engineer, and external suppliers.
• Track milestones, optimize resources, ensure top‑tier design and build quality.
• Manage obsolescence by identifying and qualifying replacement parts for rate production.
• Collaborate with procurement, quality assurance, and supply chain to maintain production pipelines.
• Prepare and present technical data packages to ERB, MRB, and Change Boards.
• Lead R&D and prototyping for IRAD initiatives.
• Develop and execute environmental qualification test plans (shock, vibration, thermal cycling, EMI/EMC).
• Lead root‑cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Travel up to 25% as needed.
