Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Engineer for the ALE AUR mechanical design team in Tucson, AZ. You will lead opto‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical hardware development, balance SOWs, budgets, and schedules, and drive design maturity while coordinating with Program Office, Chief Engineer, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 10+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 7+ years.
• Experience in hardware engineering design, development, and production support.
• Experience across multiple DoD programs or similar complex development efforts.
• Expertise in static, dynamic, and thermal mechanical analyses.
• Proven success developing high-performance hardware meeting stringent specs and compliance.
• Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude with solving complex issues.
• Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings and tolerance stack-up analyses.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Lead an engineering team focused on opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical design.
• Oversee critical technical efforts including drafting, structural/thermal analysis, EM simulations, IR drop calculations, PI/SI analysis.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Program Office, Chief Engineer’s Office, and external suppliers.
• Track schedule milestones and optimize resource allocation across teams.
• Ensure obsolescence is managed by identifying replacement parts for rate production.
• Support supplier onboarding and scaling activities.
• Prepare and present technical data packages to ERB, MRB, and Change Boards.
• Lead POC designs for new technologies and contribute to IRAD initiatives.
• Develop and execute environmental qualification test plans (shock, vibration, thermal cycling, EMI/EMC).
• Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Travel up to 25%.
