Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Electro‑Mechanical Engineer for the ALE AUR Mechanical Design team in Tucson, AZ. You will lead opto‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical hardware development, balancing SOW deliverables with budgets and schedules.

You will oversee analyses, testing, and supplier coordination while ensuring compliance with engineering principles and program requirements. A DoD Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree with 10+ years experience or advanced degree with 7+ years experience.
• Experience in hardware engineering design, development, and production support.
• Experience across multiple DoD programs or similar complex development efforts.
• Proven ability in static, dynamic, and thermal mechanical analyses.
• Strong documentation and tolerance stack‑up analysis skills.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required and ability to obtain interim clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for opto‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical design.
• Oversee drafting, structural/thermal analysis, EM simulations, and PI/SI analysis.
• Coordinate with Program Office, Chief Engineer, and external suppliers.
• Manage schedules, resources, and cross‑functional collaboration for top quality designs.
• Identify obsolescence and qualify replacement parts for production.
• Support procurement, QA, and supply chain to maintain production pipelines.
• Lead IRAD initiatives and prototype design efforts.
• Develop and execute environmental qualification tests and root‑cause investigations.
