Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Electro‑Mechanical Engineer for the Air Launched Effectors ALE AUR program at a US site. You will provide technical leadership in opto‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical hardware, balancing SOW deliverables, budgets, and schedules.

The role spans drafting, analyses, PI/SI, supplier liaison, obsolescence management, and production support. Travel up to 25% and willingness to extend hours as needed.

Qualifications

• STEM degree required with 10+ years experience or advanced degree with 7+ years.
• Experience in hardware design, development, and production support.
• DoD programs or complex development experience.
• Expertise in static, dynamic, and thermal analyses.
• Proven ability to meet stringent specs and compliance standards.
• Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to interpret drawings and perform tolerance analysis.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering team on opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical design.
• Drafting, structural/thermal analysis, EM simulations, PI/SI analysis.
• Liaise between Program Office, Chief Engineer and suppliers.
• Track schedules, optimize resources, and coordinate cross‑functional work.
• Manage obsolescence and qualifying replacement parts.
• Support procurement, QA, and manufacturing for production pipelines.
• Prepare data packages for ERB, MRB, and Change Boards.
• Lead R&D prototyping and IRAD initiatives.
• Conduct environmental qualification tests (shock, vibration, thermal, EMI/EMC).
• Lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Travel up to 25% as needed for supplier management.
