Job summary

RTX is seeking an Electrical Subsystems Digital Senior Principal Engineer in the US to lead digital design for guidance systems, focusing on FPGA-based architectures. The role includes program execution oversight, component design support, and active collaboration with customers and suppliers.

The senior engineer will mentor teams, drive subsystem architecture, and participate in multiple lifecycle phases, with travel up to 25%. A DoD Secret clearance and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in STEM and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
• Ten years of experience in analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support.
• Decomposition of high-level requirements into actionable design electronics and subsystem architecture.
• Subsystem architectural design.
• Experience in Digital sub-systems, systems engineering, requirement development, requirement validation, Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) Design, Digital Test Integration and/or Digital Supplier Management on an effector-based product.
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience is preferred.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required.
• Proficient in digital design tools for CCA Schematic Capture, Interconnect Capture and Harness Design.
• Experience as technical leader on a complex subsystem during Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) Phase.
• Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related engineering degrees.
• Systems engineering thought process with analytical skills background.
• Highly self-motivated individual able to perform multidiscipline work.
• Experience with missiles or similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead Digital Design Efforts for development guidance systems focused around systems containing FPGA's.
• Accountable for program execution including cost, schedule and technical oversight throughout the early development lifecycle.
• Support component level design and test reviews.
• Mentor and be mentored as part of RTX's culture.
• Collaborate with Functional and Program management.
• Collaborate with Customer and Suppliers.
• Assignments may require travel (~25%).
• Guide a team through phases of hardware systems lifecycle including architectural design and test planning.
