Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Philadelphia seeks an experienced estimator to support Lead Estimators during preconstruction. You will help develop budgets, perform quantity take-offs, and coordinate with trade partners to ensure complete estimates.

You will review design documents, support value engineering, and prepare GMP-ready estimate packages for owner review, working closely with architects and engineers. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an accredited program and minimum 8 years of experience, or equivalent
• Experience in project engineering, field supervision or purchasing
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
• Extensive knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide qualitative and quantitative analysis
• Conceptual ability and capacity to quickly understand owner/architect requirements
• Project management of competing demands and meeting deadlines
• Familiarity with Procurement and Operations departments
• Supervisory or management experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient with computer tools and estimating software
• Willingness to travel

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Preconstruction teams in estimating during the launch process
• Coordinate trade partner bid lists with procurement for pricing and bidding
• Lead review meetings with owner, architect, and engineer during Preconstruction
• Prepare comparison analyses and explain variances to stakeholders
• Manage design document distribution for trade budgeting and bidding
• Review design documents for completeness and request needed information
• Visit project sites to identify scope gaps not in design documents
• Support setup of estimate schedules and responsibility matrices
• Perform quantity take-offs and studies for assigned trades
• Provide pricing for value engineering, alternatives, and special studies
• Use BIM for quantity take-off and visualization to support estimates
• Prepare bid forms and recording sheets, evaluate trade input
• Ensure pricing reflects current data and trade bids
• Participate in estimate/GMP reviews with internal stakeholders
• Lead or support Lump Sum bid process
• Contribute to hiring, onboarding and performance feedback
