Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced estimator to support the Lead Estimators and Preconstruction Manager during the preconstruction launch phase. You will perform quantity take-offs, value engineering, and pricing, coordinating with trade partners to ensure complete and well-supported GMP estimates.

Responsibilities include leading bid reviews, developing variance messages for stakeholders, and using BIM for quantity take-off and visualization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction or similar; 8+ years experience or equivalent combo.
Experience in project engineering, field supervision or purchasing.
Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems and trade practices.
Ability to read and interpret contract docs, drawings, specs, scopes of work and schedule.
Extensive knowledge of estimating documents; capable of qualitative/quantitative analysis.
Conceptual ability to work with minimal information and understand owner/architect requirements.
Project management of competing demands and deadlines.
Familiar with procurement and operations in construction.
Supervisory/management experience.
Proficient in MS Office; familiar with estimating software.
Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Preconstruction Manager in estimating throughout the launch process.
Coordinate trade partner bid lists with procurement for pricing and bidding.
Lead reviews with owner, architect, and engineer during Preconstruction.
Prepare comparisons and explain variances to stakeholders.
Manage design document distribution for budgeting and bidding.
Review design docs and request information to complete estimates.
Visit project sites to identify scope not in design docs.
Set up estimates, schedules, and responsibility matrices.
Perform quantity take-off, analysis, and studies for trades and systems.
Provide pricing for value engineering, alternates, and options.
Use BIM for take-off and visualization to support estimates.
Prepare bid forms and recording sheets; evaluate bidder input.
Ensure pricing reflects GC/GRs, site logistics, and LIFE considerations.
Lead or support Lump Sum bid processes; participate in GMP discussions.
Assist in hiring, onboarding, and performance feedback.
