Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Philadelphia is seeking an experienced estimator to support preconstruction efforts. You will drive estimating functions, perform quantity take-offs, and produce complete GMP-ready packages with input from trade partners.

Responsibilities include value engineering, budget control, and coordination with owners, architects, and engineers. Travel and leadership duties are part of the role in a busy preconstruction environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from accredited degree program in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction or similar, and minimum of 8 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Experience in project engineering, field supervision or purchasing
• Building construction knowledge, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
• Extensive knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis
• Conceptual ability to work with minimal information and quickly understand owner/architect requirements
• Project management of competing demands, and meet deadlines
• Familiar with procurement and operations procedures
• Supervisory or management experience
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Travel

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Preconstruction Manager and Preconstruction Manager in estimating functions throughout preconstruction phase launch process
• Coordinate trade partner bid lists with procurement for budget pricing and bidding
• Lead review meetings with owner, architect, and engineer related to Preconstruction phase
• Prepare comparison analysis to previous estimates and explain variances to stakeholders
• Manage distribution of design documents for budgeting and bidding; ensure trade input
• Review design documents for completion; request information for complete estimates
• Visit project sites to evaluate conditions and capture scope not in design documents
• Assist in set-up of estimate, schedule, and responsibility matrix
• Perform quantity take-off, analysis, estimates, and studies for trades and systems
• Provide pricing for value engineering, alternates, options, and studies
• Use BIM for take-off and visualization to support complete estimates
• Prepare trade bid forms and bid recording sheets; evaluate input for scope and overlaps
• Ensure complete pricing within estimate or GMP reflecting recent bids
• Participate in estimate reviews with internal stakeholders
• Lead coordination of operational input during estimating and GMP processes
• Develop or support assembly of estimate, bid, or GMP documents
• Lead or support Lump Sum bid process
• Participate in hiring and performance feedback processes
