Arcadis is seeking a Principal System Planning and Studies Engineer to lead the Power Delivery & Renewables team in North America. The role combines hands-on technical work with project leadership, client engagement, and business development to deliver high-impact power system studies and planning for utility and developer clients.

The ideal candidate has a PE license (PhD preferred) and deep expertise in PSCAD/PSS/E, HVDC, and interconnection studies, with travel up to 20% to client sites and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 12+ years in power system planning.
  • Experience with North American market operators (MISO, PJM, NYISO, etc.) and interconnection studies.
  • Proficiency with PSCAD and PSS/E for load-flow, short-circuit, and transient stability analysis.
  • PE License required; PhD in Power Systems preferred; HVDC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the System Planning & Studies team; coordinate resources and quality reviews.
  • Perform and coordinate power system analyses including load-flow, short-circuit, stability assessments.
  • Act as Project/Proposal/Program/Account Manager and Technical Lead for client projects.
  • Engage with clients and vendors for business development; travel up to 20%.
