Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Power & Hardware Design Engineer to drive power distribution standards and hardware development for its global fulfillment center network.

You will lead design, analysis, and documentation for 3-phase power systems, coordinate with WWDE, Operations Engineering, and strategic suppliers, and advance multi-year roadmaps while ensuring safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with large-scale mechanical and power systems.
• Experience solving problems with technology in Energy & Utilities.
• 1+ years of AutoCAD Electrical (2010+) or related.
• Experience in hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems.
• Experience in material handling systems (MHS) installation, operation and maintenance.
• 4+ years of power systems design and hardware development.
• Proven expertise in 3-phase power system design and power distribution.
• Proficient in arc flash calculations per IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E.
• Travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and optimize 3-phase power systems and distribution for material handling applications.
• Specify MDBs, PDPs, substations, ensuring sizing, protection coordination, and code compliance.
• Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and panel schedules for power needs.
• Perform power quality and fault-current studies for reliability and safety.
• Select transformers, switchgear, breakers, bus ducts, and distribution equipment.
• Design modular, scalable power distribution prioritizing reliability and maintainability.
• Establish best practices for panel placement, grounding, and safety circuits.
• Perform detailed electrical load calculations and diversity factors.
• Carry out arc flash calculations and labeling; ensure compliance with NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584.
• Coordinate with mechanical and civil teams for integrated designs.
