Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions in San Diego seeks a Senior Power Systems Architect to own customer-facing power-architecture requirements and translate them into connector and cable specifications.

You will work with hyperscalers, GPU/CPU partners, and Rack Power ODMs, leading power-architecture discussions, refining roadmaps, and guiding design-in activities across product engineering, manufacturing, and R&D. Travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years in power connector, systems engineering, or related discipline (Bachelor's); 3–6 years (Master's).
• Experience translating system-level power architecture requirements into connector/cable specs.
• Knowledge of high-voltage/high-current interconnect design for data center or power infrastructure.
• Proven ability to manage customer technical relationships independently.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical requirements-gathering relationship with customer engineering teams for power architecture.
• Translate system-level power architecture into connector and cable specifications for product development.
• Lead customer-facing discussions on power architecture options, trade-offs, and roadmap alignment.
• Collaborate with product engineering, manufacturing, and R&D to shape roadmaps in response to customer needs.
• Develop and own technical requirement documents and inputs for design-in activities.
• Lead qualification, validation, and design-in activities at customer sites for new power interconnect solutions.
• Track and contribute to industry standards (e.g., OCP, UL/IEC) shaping power delivery roadmaps.
• Provide voice of customer feedback to internal teams and mentor junior engineers.
