Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to support power plant design, modifications, and control system upgrades. This role emphasizes delivering robust I&C engineering solutions within cross-functional project teams.

You will engage in design coordination, calculations, and control narratives, while mentoring peers and participating in knowledge-sharing programs. Hybrid work requires in-office presence three days per week.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program; emphasis in power systems preferred.
• PE license or ability to earn PE license.
• 9+ years of power plant and heavy industrial control systems experience.
• Power or industrial controls experience.
• Understanding practical application of instrumentation and controls engineering and technology.
• Experience reading and creating logic diagrams and control narratives.
• Knowledge of design techniques and tools for technical plans and drawings.
• MS Office, especially Excel and Access.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative team experience and strong work habits.

Responsibilities

• Utilize and expand your I&C engineering background on power plants.
• Work on project teams for new plants, modifications, and plant controls enhancements.
• Prepare specifications for instrumentation and controls equipment and installation services.
• Coordinate plant design with multi-discipline teams and perform engineering calculations.
• Mentor through training sessions and Communities of Practice.
• Possibility to travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and field verification.
• Develop knowledge through S&L’s process communities.
