Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls engineer-in-training for Summer 2027. You will support design efforts for new power plants, plant modifications, and upstream/downstream facilities while developing I&C deliverables and specifications.

You will work under senior engineers, participate in mentoring, and advance through on-the-job training in a hybrid work environment with three days in the office weekly.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering with graduation in Spring 2028 or Winter 2027.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, with emphasis on MS Excel and Access.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Exceptional work habits; resourceful and enthusiastic attitude.

Responsibilities

• Apply I&C engineering principles to project design deliverables and technical problem solving.
• Assist with design of process control systems and procurement specifications.
• Develop I&C design deliverables including P&IDs, I/O lists, control panel designs, cause-and-effect matrices, control narratives, network architecture, cable schedules and location plans.
• Mentoring, classroom-style sessions and on-the-job training to grow knowledge in the discipline.
• Work on hybrid schedule requiring in-office presence 3 days per week.
