Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer for design work on new power plants and upgrades to existing facilities. The role supports I&C equipment specs, P&IDs, control narratives, and network topology, with travel to client sites as needed.

This hybrid position requires in-office work 3 days per week and offers extensive mentorship, formal training, and opportunities to advance through the company’s Communities of Practice.

Qualifications

• We require a BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with strong analog/digital control background.
• Ability to apply I&C engineering principles to project design deliverables and problem solving.
• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel and Access; strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience collaborating in teams and a proactive work ethic.
• ABET accreditation and FE/ Engineer-in-Training are valued.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design of process control systems and prepare procurement specs for I&C equipment.
• Develop P&IDs, I/O lists, control panels, and network architecture.
• Support process hazard analysis and design reviews.
• Travel to client/vendor offices or plant sites as needed for reviews and coordination.
• Participate in training to grow engineering knowledge via Communities of Practice.
