Job summary

Sargent & Lundy LLC. is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in Chicago. You will join cross-disciplinary teams designing power plants, upgrading facilities, and improving plant control systems, collaborating on electrical design and control narratives.

The role requires an ABET-accredited degree, FE exam with EIT designation, and 1 year of power/industrial controls experience, plus strong communication and teamwork skills. This is a hybrid role with in-office days three per week.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical).
• Successful completion of the FE exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.
• 1 year of relevant power plant and heavy industrial control systems experience.
• Power or industrial controls experience.
• Understanding of instrumentation and controls engineering and project design.
• Experience reading/creating logic diagrams and control narratives.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on project teams designing new power plants or upgrading existing facilities.
• Assist in power distribution designs and preparation of procurement specifications for instrumentation and controls equipment.
• Contribute to multi-discipline project design coordination and electrical control circuit design.
• Develop engineering calculations and support design reviews.
• Participate in mentoring and on-the-job training to expand expertise.
• Possibly travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and construction coordination.
