CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Staff Power Electronics Engineer to lead design, development, integration, and verification of power conversion hardware for space and airborne platforms. You’ll work across electrical, systems, mechanical, FPGA, software, manufacturing, and test teams to deliver robust power electronics solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 12–15 years of related experience in power electronics (or 8–12 with Master’s or 5–8 with PhD).
• Advanced application of power electronics engineering principles, power conversion, analog circuits, and electrical power systems.
• Extensive experience developing complex power conversion architectures, voltage regulation solutions, and electrical power subsystems.
• Strong understanding of thermal management, magnetics, power semiconductor devices, electrical testing, qualification, and verification methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to solve highly complex power electronics engineering problems across multiple programs.
• Mentoring engineers, guiding technical decisions, and advancing power electronics practices.
• Proficiency with MS Office and engineering tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Experience with circuit simulation and design tools (LTspice, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, Altium Designer).
• Experience with engineering analysis, configuration management, and collaboration tools (Windchill, Git, Jira).

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced power electronics engineering principles to develop complex power conversion architectures and electrical power subsystems across multiple programs.
• Advance design methodologies by evaluating efficiency targets, thermal management, magnetics, switching topologies, and component selection.
• Lead complex engineering analyses, design reviews, and evaluations requiring ingenuity across multiple programs.
• Lead integration, laboratory testing, hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, verification, and qualification activities.
• Evaluate electrical performance, efficiency, thermal behavior, and risks while improving product reliability.
• Guide verification planning, qualification testing, root cause investigations, engineering changes, and design validation.
• Serve as a primary technical resource for power electronics across development efforts and cross-discipline coordination.
• Provide technical guidance through design reviews and complex problem resolution.
• Mentor engineers and promote continuous improvement across teams.
• Advance engineering processes and configuration management across programs.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, manufacturability, and design quality.
