Job summary

CesiumAstro, Inc. is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to design and deliver high-reliability power converters for satellites and aerospace systems. The role covers concept through production, with hands-on work and direct impact in a dynamic startup-like environment.

You will lead end-to-end design, perform rigorous analysis, mentor junior engineers, and present design reviews to customers and leadership. Excellent written and verbal communication is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 5 years of industry or university research experience in board-level power electronics design, analysis, and test.
• Experience owning the design phase of power electronics or power subsystems, including power architecture and requirements definition, trade studies, power converter and analog electronics design, component selection, and detailed design.
• Experience performing or guiding complex PCB layout for analog and power electronics.
• Experience with analysis and simulation tools such as SPICE, LTSPICE, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, PLECS, Simulink, MATLAB, or MathCAD
• Strong laboratory testing and troubleshooting experience for prototyping, design verification testing and qualification of analog and power electronics hardware.
• Direct experience designing high-reliability electronics for automotive, space or defense applications, including part derating, worst-case analysis, and thermal constraints.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design of power converters, and power management and control circuits, from concept to schematic, PCB, testing and production support.
• Perform detailed schematic design for low to high complexity power electronics designs.
• Perform detailed PCB layout in Altium Designer independently or with a PCB Drafter.
• Model and analyze analog and power electronics designs including worst-case analysis and efficiency optimization.
• Develop test plans and qualification matrices for power converters and power supply designs.
• Perform bring-up and design verification testing of power electronics circuits and modules.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline team to lead system integration and release to production.
• Mentor junior engineers to build technical understanding.
• Keep up with new power electronics tech to drive innovation.
