Job summary

ABB is seeking a highly skilled Field Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical distribution equipment across the Ohio Valley region. The role combines remote work with on-site service in West Virginia and Southern Ohio, including occasional Charleston WV center support.

You will lead startup, commissioning, and testing activities on switchgear, transformers, and related controls, with travel up to 50% and frequent collaboration with engineering teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 8 years of engineering or field experience in power delivery work.
• Strong knowledge of switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and LV/MV systems.
• Willingness to travel ~50% and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must have work authorization to work for ABB in the United States.
• Experience with Protective relay programming (Multilin, SEL), PLC and HMI.
• Generator controls experience.

Responsibilities

• Execute projects on Power Delivery equipment: startup, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Large transformer testing, including PF testing, TTR, core resistance.
• Develop electrical equipment layouts, schematics, network architectures, and bills of materials.
