Job summary

ABB is seeking a field service engineer in the United States to execute medium to high complexity service work per instructions and guidelines. You will deliver outstanding customer service, identify opportunities in the installed base to improve system performance, and work remotely in coordination with the local service team in Vancouver, WA.

The role requires hands-on execution of projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of Power Delivery equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years relevant field engineering experience.
• Technical skills in testing of power distribution and delivery to include Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Breakers, Switchgear, Relays and Transformers.
• Experience in testing, commissioning, startup and troubleshooting of medium voltage synchronous machines, controls and PLCs is a plus.
• Up to 75% domestic travel.
• We are unable to sponsor an employment visa at this time for this role in the US.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with ABB HSE, ABB Way, and Safety policies at all times.
• Perform hands-on projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design and repair of Power Delivery equipment.
• Lead outages with other field engineers, technicians and contractors; manage project communications and reports.
• Plan, organize and perform field assignments; direct work of other engineers and craft labor.
• Develop and expand technical knowledge to current industry standards.
• Prepare and/or instruct training programs for internal and external audiences.
