Job summary

Hartford Steam Boiler, a Munich Re subsidiary, seeks a Senior Portfolio Underwriter to manage and optimize portfolio products for our largest client relationships. You will leverage data analytics to refine pricing, rate segmentation, and loss trend detection, while preparing compelling external client presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.
• 7+ years of P&C insurance/reinsurance experience, with 5+ years in underwriting preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of commercial and personal lines insurance and reinsurance concepts, exposures, and processes to drive profitability.
• Ability to translate large data analyses into actionable decisions.
• Experience with rate development (pure premium), price segmentation, and detecting leading loss trends.
• Proven track record of achieving profit and growth targets for a book of business.
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills."

Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, expand, and optimize portfolio products for key client relationships.
• Lead analysis using diagnostics and predictive analytics to improve product performance and pricing.
• Prepare and deliver client presentations communicating financial results, data analyses, and loss trends.
• Make underwriting decisions with binding authority and influence P&L outcomes.
