Job summary

The Hartford Steam Boiler, a subsidiary of Munich Re, is seeking an experienced underwriter to lead energy property programs and guide underwriting teams in large and complex commercial lines. You will develop terms, manage risk-sharing, and drive revenue growth for energy clients while mentoring colleagues across underwriting, business development and engineering.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in underwriting, strong energy sector knowledge, and credentials like CPCU or ARM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, risk management, or finance.
• 10+ years relevant underwriting experience, preferably on an underwriting team.
• 5+ years casualty and/or property underwriting experience, preferably large property.
• Experience with single carrier and shared & layered programs.
• 3+ years broker relationships in energy.
• P&C, Mechanical or Facilities Engineering experience is a plus.
• CPCU, ARM, ARe or other industry designations are a plus.
• Excellent underwriting, marketing and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite corporate property programs for large and complex commercial and energy lines.
• Develop terms and conditions and consider risk-sharing acceptances.
• Partner with leadership to oversee portfolios for profitability.
• Account underwriting, presentation, sales and revenue growth for energy clients.
• Mentor/train team members; collaborate with Underwriting, Business Development, Operations and Engineering.
• Handle highly complex risks for energy clients.
