Job summary

The Hartford Steam Boiler, a Munich Re subsidiary, is seeking a Senior Portfolio Underwriter to manage and grow the portfolio for our largest client relationships. You will analyze data, develop rate segments, and ensure profitability while guiding product performance.

Collaborating with Product Managers and the Underwriting Lead, you will present financial results to clients and drive decisive underwriting decisions under binding authority.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or equivalent work experience is required.
• 7+ years of P&C insurance/reinsurance experience; 5+ years in Underwriting preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of commercial and personal lines insurance and reinsurance coverage, concepts, principles, exposures and processes to drive profitable results.
• Demonstrated ability to translate large data analysis into actionable decisions.
• Demonstrated understanding of rate development (pure premium), price segmentation & detecting leading loss trends.
• Past experience with responsibility for achieving profit and growth targets for a book of business.
• Demonstrated experience with negotiation and conflict resolution.
• Exhibited ability to develop creative and unique solutions.
• HSB Product knowledge and Previous Experience and familiarity with HSB is desired.

Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, expand and optimize the portfolio products for the company\'s largest and most critical client relationships.
• Act as a thought leader for clients, devising innovative solutions using data, products and services.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and the Underwriting Lead to analyze data and optimize product performance.
• Communicate financial results, data analyses, rate assessments, and loss trends to clients through presentations.
• Make underwriting decisions with binding authority that influence the portfolio\'s profit and growth.
