Volkert Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer/Construction Manager to lead port and maritime projects across the Gulf Coast region.

Located in Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana offices, this role requires regional travel and occasional remote work to support project teams and clients. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of design and construction management experience, a PE license, and a strong background in terminal expansions, dredging, wharf upgrades, and rail interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Port Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field.
• 10+ years of design and construction project management on large port/maritime projects.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• Rail-related projects experience preferred.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Valid driver's license and clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Lead design engineer for port and maritime projects from concept through design and bid package.
• Manage and deliver construction of port and maritime projects.
• Act as client and internal subconsultants liaison during project execution.
• Prepare and review the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and staffing needs.
• Conduct kickoff meetings with stakeholders and clients.
• Ensure QA reviews are conducted and documented.
• Maintain project records and daily field logs.
• Coordinate with rail operators and rail-safety compliance.
