Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

The role emphasizes managing budgets, schedules, procurement, and cross-functional coordination to ensure safe, on-time, and within-budget delivery. The ideal candidate has a strong background in HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP systems and can build solid client relationships while guiding project teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Project Management experience in commercial construction or MEP contracting.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP systems.
• Experience managing projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration.
• Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and cost controls.
• Ability to read drawings and technical documentation.
• Travel to project locations as required.
• Procore, Bluebeam, MSP, or Primavera experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through turnover and closeout.
• Set goals, schedules, budgets, and procurement plans.
• Coordinate across PM, field ops, VDC, engineering, procurement, and others.
• Maintain project performance and ensure milestones are met.
• Manage change orders, pricing, and contract modifications.
• Support major equipment and material purchasing decisions.
• Build and maintain strong client and partner relationships.
• Drive safety, quality, and adherence to drawings and codes.
• Oversee closeout: startups, warranties, and final documentation.
