Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group Inc is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through final turnover. You will manage budgets, schedules, procurement, and coordination across PM, field teams, VDC, and engineering to deliver on time, within scope, and within budget.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Project Management experience in commercial construction, mechanical contracting, MEP contracting, or with a General Contractor.
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP systems.
• Demonstrated experience managing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Strong knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration.
• Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, project documentation, and cost controls.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation.
• Proven ability to coordinate field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and multiple trades.
• Strong financial acumen and understanding of project profitability.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel to project locations as required.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar construction management platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from preconstruction through final turnover and closeout.
• Develop execution strategies, schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and milestones.
• Coordinate activities across PM, field operations, VDC, Engineering, Procurement, and internal teams.
• Maintain ownership of project performance and ensure contractual milestones are met.
• Identify challenges early and develop proactive solutions to keep projects moving.
• Manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, cost projections, and financial reporting.
• Monitor labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other costs.
• Evaluate performance and identify financial risks and opportunities.
• Manage change orders, pricing, documentation, and contract modifications.
• Support procurement planning and major equipment purchasing decisions.
• Identify value-engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
