Job summary

IPS-Integrated Project Services in Cary, North Carolina, seeks a Lead Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer to lead design efforts on life sciences facilities. You will manage project scope, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with clients and multi‑discipline teams across all design phases.

You should bring 10–12 years in mechanical or fire protection design, extensive CAD experience (AutoCAD/Revit), and strong knowledge of codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited four-year college.
• Expertise in AutoCAD and Revit for engineering design.
• Thorough knowledge of Mechanical or Fire Protection system design and applicable codes.
• Experience with software for performing plumbing and fire protection calculations (HASS/Viking/Pipe Flow/IPS Calculation Spreadsheets).
• Experience with different piping materials and pressures for all types of systems.

Responsibilities

• Acts as Project Lead on projects across all phases, including feasibility, design, and documentation.
• Mentors Designers and Engineers on project execution and standards.
• Defines scope of work, budget, and staffing with the Project Manager.
• Prepares and reviews engineering studies, schematics, plans, and construction support.
• Reviews contractor payments and ensures alignment with project progress and scope.
• Coordinates document completion with clients and design professionals.
