Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a senior plumbing designer to join our multi-disciplinary team across the United States. You will lead the design of ductwork, piping and equipment for large-scale educational, healthcare and corporate projects, under the guidance of a licensed professional.

You will mentor junior staff, review shop drawings, and coordinate with clients and the design team through BIM models, ensuring quality and budget alignment from schematic design through construction administration.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Engineering or related field
• 8+ years of related experience
• CPD/PE/FPE in US preferred
• LEED accreditation preferred
• Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes
• Critical thinker
• Highly analytical
• Ability to work independently with little oversight
• Fully qualified professional with latitude
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Ability to handle multiple projects
• Engage effectively with clients
• Experience with Revit/Trane design tools

Responsibilities

• Design plumbing and fire protection systems for large buildings
• Provide technical leadership to designers and engineering team
• Direct work of junior staff and conduct reviews
• Participate in QAQC processes
• Interface with clients and design team
• Lead BIM modeling in Revit for construction drawings
• Specify equipment such as water heaters and pumping equipment
• Review shop drawings for contract compliance
• Attend owner/architect/construction meetings focusing on budget
• Lead value engineering sessions
• Support project planning, budgeting and scheduling
• Respond to RFIs and review change orders
• Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe progress
• Represent CannonDesign in business development and committees
