Job summary

Axon is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to shape the cloud platform that underpins our evidence ecosystem. You will design scalable, distributed systems and lead architectural decisions across Kubernetes, data stores, and developer tooling.

This role emphasizes building a self-service datastore platform, integrating Terraform or Pulumi, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, observable services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering; Master's considered a plus.
• US Citizenship required to gain CJIS clearance for full US production access.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with platform automation or developer tooling.
• Proven ability to design and operate large distributed systems at scale.
• Experience with agentic AI tooling or building LLM-powered developer tools.
• Microservice architectures with cloud services across Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Hands-on with observability platforms like Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic.
• Relational and NoSQL datastores (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra) and Kafka.
• Infrastructure as code using Terraform or Pulumi.

Responsibilities

• Drive IaC workflows and code reviews across the platform.
• Lead long-term architectural decisions and standardization for platform technologies.
• Design and build a Kubernetes-based platform to automate lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to guide application design for platform services.
• Build and operate a self-service datastore platform with defined usage patterns.
• Diagnose datastore performance bottlenecks and optimization opportunities with application teams.
