Job summary

Axon is seeking a senior cloud platform engineer to own critical platform networking for Axon’s cloud systems. You’ll work across Istio service mesh, TLS automation, DNS, and edge routing to ensure reliability and scale.

You will contribute to infrastructure-as-code, pair program, and guide engineers across different networking depths while maintaining strong security and production standards. Seattle hybrid work model included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science required.
• Six+ years of experience in global 24/7 production systems.
• Strong Kubernetes experience at scale (ingress, gateways, mesh).
• IaC and automated delivery on public cloud (Azure).
• Production software in Python, Go, or Java for infrastructure, tooling, or reliable services.
• Production ownership of service mesh, ingress, TLS automation, DNS, or public-edge patterns.
• Familiarity with a GitOps‑style approach to software and infrastructure delivery.
• Empathy for software engineers with varying depth in networking.

Responsibilities

• Work on a mixed infrastructure and software team owning platform networking for Axon's cloud systems: mesh, ingress, TLS and certificate automation, DNS and edge routing, and automation.
• Advance Axon's use of Istio-style service mesh patterns to scale and rollout changes.
• Ship infrastructure-as-code and software-backed controls, steward components meeting regulatory expectations, address vulnerabilities with disciplined change.
• Advise software engineers through design reviews and pair programming when connectivity, ingress, mesh, or TLS is on the critical path.
• Automate operations to keep the platform highly available with four-nines reliability, e.g. TLS management at scale.
