Job summary

Axon is seeking a platform engineer for the APX CloudNet team. You’ll own real-time, cloud-native networking across distributed Axon systems, building scalable, observable infrastructure and guiding others through design reviews.

Based in Seattle with a hybrid schedule, you’ll work on Kubernetes, Istio/Envoy, TLS automation, DNS, and edge routing to keep services reliable. A strong background in production systems and cloud tooling is required.

Qualifications

• Six or more years of experience in global, 24/7, high-volume production systems.
• Experience operating Kubernetes clusters at meaningful scale (ingress, gateways, mesh).
• Production software in Python, Go, or Java (incl. Scala) for infrastructure or reliable services.
• Service mesh, ingress, TLS/certificate automation, DNS or public-edge patterns ownership.
• Excellent debugging of cloud-native distributed systems (HTTP/TLS, DNS, load balancing).
• GitOps-style approach to software and infrastructure delivery.
• Empathy for engineers with varying networking depth.

Responsibilities

• Work on platform networking for Axon's cloud systems: mesh, ingress, TLS automation, DNS and edge routing.
• Advance Istio-style service mesh patterns to improve production scaling.
• Ship infrastructure-as-code and software-backed controls; ensure regulatory expectations are met.
• Advise software engineers through design reviews and pair programming on connectivity and TLS.
• Automate operations to achieve four-nines reliability and TLS certificate automation at scale.
