Job summary

Axon is seeking an experienced SRE/Platform Engineer to own and evolve our observability stack. You will work across distributed tracing, logging, and metrics platforms, partnering with engineering teams to drive adoption of OpenTelemetry and modern observability practices.

The role sits in the Site Reliability organization and emphasizes both technical depth and developer experience. The ideal candidate has a strong infra engineering background, comfort with cloud-native systems, and a passion

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent technical field.
7+ years of experience in SRE, platform or infrastructure engineering.
Experience with agentic AI tooling or building LLM-powered developer tools.
Strong Linux fundamentals and Kubernetes-based environments.
Hands-on experience with Loki, Grafana, Tempo/Jaeger, or Mimir/Cortex.
Infrastructure as code experience with Terraform (CDK a plus).
Experience with Golang, Python, or Java.
US citizenship with ability to gain CJIS clearance.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve distributed tracing infrastructure (Jaeger, OpenTelemetry).
Operate log aggregation platform (Grafana Loki + Alloy) and expand use cases.
Maintain metrics infrastructure (Cortex, Prometheus, Grafana) for dashboards and SLOs.
Write internal tooling to make observability self-service.
Manage observability infrastructure as code via Terraform, CDK, ArgoCD, Helm.
Collaborate with engineering teams to define instrumentation standards and SLOs.
