Job summary

Axon is seeking a Senior Director, Software Engineering to own the core infrastructure platform used by all cloud services. You’ll lead globally distributed teams, set architecture directions, drive reliability and security, and partner with Product and Security to balance near-term delivery with long-term investment.

You will guide the org through AI-enabled transformation, hire top talent, and foster candor, accountability, and learning across locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent highly technical field.
• 15+ years leading engineering teams, including managers of managers.
• Hands-on growth of software orgs building large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience running cloud services at scale (AWS/Azure).
• Deep infra Knowledge: IaC, compute, networking, observability, developer platforms.
• Proven ability to deliver high-velocity production software.
• Experience applying AI in engineering workflows at scale.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, change, and competing priorities.
• Strong collaboration with business, customers, and security.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term technical strategy and architecture for core infrastructure platform.
• Lead major technical decisions shaping the platform.
• Deliver highly reliable, secure, scalable systems with high quality.
• Ensure delightful developer experience for engineers building on the platform.
• Align long-term strategy with roadmaps and customer commitments with peers.
• Lead transformation toward AI-native engineering and develop managers/leaders.
