Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to keep the NBA platform healthy, reliable, and maintainable. You will work across Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL to diagnose issues, improve performance, and implement focused enhancements.

This hands-on role rewards ownership and cross-team collaboration. You will partner with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence, ensuring scalable, well-tested solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Ability to read, debug, and extend code in Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL.
• Strong understanding of APIs, event-driven patterns, and failure handling.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure or equivalent) and containers/Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Cross-Stack Maintenance — Maintain and support services across the full platform; build and keep current a working knowledge of each component and how they integrate.
• Reliability Engineering — Monitor platform health, investigate production issues, and resolve bottlenecks, failures, and scaling constraints.
• Feature Implementation — Design and ship focused features, enhancements, and technical improvements across platform components.
• Observability — Extend logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting for clear production visibility.
• Performance and scale — Profile and tune components under load and scale the platform reliably.
• Quality — Write tests, participate in code reviews, uphold engineering standards.
• Incident response — Participate in on-call rotation, lead root-cause analyses, and implement durable fixes.
• Collaboration — Work with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence to own long-term components.
